US consumers overwhelmed by brand emails and texts

The news: US consumers are overwhelmed by marketing content, with 40% unsubscribing from brand emails and texts at least once a week, significantly higher than the global average of 25%, GetApp's 2024 Advertising Preferences Survey reveals.

  • Over 56% of US consumers will unsubscribe if they receive four or more messages from the same company in 30 days, while 44% opt out even sooner due to marketing fatigue.
  • 36% of consumers who unsubscribed say they never subscribed or don't remember signing up, raising concerns about deceptive marketing practices.
